The snow went as fast as it came... late last night we were in a light, bright winter wonderland, throwing snowballs for Jake to catch, watching him bark at snowmen and prance like a fool. Snow
is the new sand. By this morning, it was melting, and by the lunchtime walk it was all but gone. Do dogs feel disappointed? Jake looked it.

Jake & I are now settled at each end of the sofa. I'm on the wireless & he's in the land of nod, coiled in one of those lurcher knots. We set off for our walk in glorious crisp winter sunshine, and by the time we got home from Craiglockhart Dell, we were slit-eyed against the sleet. Jake had a brief new look as a negative dalmatian.
In Craiglockhart Dell Jake met a collie and a spaniel who he enticed into chasing him round a tree eight times at top speed.

Ah, poor Jake. He made the tactical error of rolling in swan poo at the canalside. And that means a shower. Bwah ha haa.

Jake loved Wester Ross. We stayed on a croft in Inverasdale, on the edge of Loch Ewe. His early morning stroll was on the pebbled beach five minutes from the croft. Best of all was a daily visit to one of the many nearby beaches, so well appointed with seaweed to shake and run around with. Plus sea and sand ... we've all come back rather fitter than before.
None of us were very amused by the storms, however, which led to some sharp contrasts in human/canine outerwear...
